What this site records
I count visits so I can see which projects people read. The site sets no cookies, shows no advertising and uses no third-party analytics. Nothing about your visit is sent to anyone else.
When you open a page
- The page you opened
- Its address on this site, such as /projects/the-camp/.
- Where you came from
- Only the name of the referring site (for example linkedin.com), never the full link.
- Your browser and device
- Parsed names such as “Chrome, Windows, Desktop”. The raw browser string is not kept.
- Roughly where on the network
- The first part of your network address only (203.0.113.0/24 for IPv4, the first 48 bits for IPv6). Your full address is never stored.
- A visitor code
- A code that changes every day, made from the date, your address and your browser with a secret key. It lets me count unique visitors within a day. It cannot be turned back into your address, and it cannot follow you from one day to the next.
- Time
- When the page was opened.
Also counted
- That the portfolio PDF was downloaded.
- That a link to another website was clicked, and only that site's name.
- That someone used the Malty chat. The question you type is answered and not stored. Open answers are written by a small AI model running on my own server, so your question is not sent to another company. They can be wrong.
Switching it off
If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is recorded at all, neither by your browser nor by the server.
Who sees it, and for how long
Only I can see it, in a private dashboard. Visit records are deleted after 180 days. The web server also keeps its standard access log, including full IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting. Those logs are deleted after about two weeks.
